A brand new tourist resort is set to open this summer on the island of Korčula.
Resort Port 9 is located in a quiet bay, surrounded by a forest, just two kilometres from the medieval town of Korčula.
Port 9 will have a total of 177 accommodation units, including 49 standard rooms with a balcony, 35 superior rooms with a balcony or terrace, 28 junior suites, 56 family rooms, 3 spacious suites with a kithen and balcony, and 6 luxurious junior suites.
The resort also will have a restaurant complex including two buffet restaurants, an à la carte restaurant, as well as wellness facilities, lounge bars and pools.
There will also be a number of pool bars, tennis courts, minigolf facilities and ability to hire bikes and canoes.
A special feature of Port 9 Resort is Marko Polo Kids – an animation programme for children focusing on discovering Korčula through learning, creative activities and sport.
This organised programme enables children to have fun and explore the island, while the parents relax and enjoy.
Kids activities include such things as learning about the history of Korčula via creative workshops focusing on skills and crafts perfected by the ancient inhabitants of the island like shipbuilding and stone carving.
The resort, which was designed by leading Croatian architect Duje Kaliterna, is set to open its doors in June 2017. More info and photos www.croatiaweek.com
